Oma J. Buckingham, 94, of Marion, IA formally of Independence, IA died Monday, June 11, 2019 at the Willow Garden Care Center in Marion, IA.
She was born on November 1, 1924 in Stanwood, IA the daughter of Benjamin F and Willemona (Sanders) Stiles. She attended the Tipton Schools and was a 1942 graduate of Tipton High School. On September 4, 1942, she married Leslie W. Buckingham in Kahoka, MO. She lived with her parents in Stanwood, IA while Leslie served in the US Army during WWII. They made their home in Independence, IA in late 1945, where they raised their family and watched several generations grow up.
Oma is survived by her children; Donna Vittitoe, Cedar Rapids, IA, Barbara (Robert) Olsen, Aurora, IA, Robert Buckingham, Wadena, IA, and Kandace (Terry) Campbell, Cedar Rapids, IA, her ten grandchildren; Lori Bozanek, Tami Vittitoe, Tony Vittitoe, Wendy Olsen, Robin Olsen, Amy Olsen, Robert “Dude” Olsen, Leslie Postel, Tim Postel, and Mark Campbell, twelve great grandchildren; Amber Tatum, Ashley Heiar, Logan Bozanek, Ally Mollenhauer, Thomas Mollenhauer, Chiara Humbles, Amanda Goslin, Nick Hare, Joshua Chamberlain, Daniel Chamberlain, Kimberly Kress, and Douglas McAtee, ten great great grandchildren; Aubrey Tatum, Maxton Heiar, Jackson Mollenhauer, Chanel Goslin, Emma Hare, Chloe Kress, Milo Kress, Chance Chamberlain, Andrew Chamberlain, and Catalina Chamberlain
She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Willemona Stiles, and her husband, Leslie Buckingham.
A private graveside burial will be held at a later date.
