Michael was an avid outdoorsman, loved to go fly fishing, and camping with his family. He also shared his passion for the outdoors with his sons and all the members of Boy Scouts of America, Troop 47. His faith in God was an important part of his life and he was very active in his church with different ministries. He served on the board of directors for the Backbone Area Youth for Christ. For over a decade, he helped organize Christian Concerts that were held at the Independence High School. Michael served with two different prison ministry groups: Returning Hearts at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola and with the Living Last Supper at the Correctional Facility for Women in Mitchellville, IA.

Kimberly and family.
I am so sorry to hear about Michael. We don't get the paper so we didn't know of his death. We would have been at his funeral if we had known. My heart and prayers go out to you. I had a love for your family, for your Christian faith and love. It really showed!
Michael was so cheerful and inviting, and I will miss his smile. I know that he is smiling down on us all from heaven. WE WILL SEE HIM AGAIN...PRAISE GOD!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
God bless you and your family.

Michael is a sweet honest, courageous man that I had the privilege to know only for only a short time. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father and brother who loved his family, and friends. He loves God, has a strong faith and now is with him. Peace and sympathies to his beloved wife, Kimberly, sons, family and friends.
